Collection facility building materials policy
Contractors were dumping big construction loads at the county collection facility, crowding out residents and pushing costs up. Commissioners temporarily banned contract building materials and plan to revisit fees with Republic Services.
Water Resource Management
Residents are worried that massive data center and power generation projects could draw millions of gallons a day from the aquifers that every household and farm in Wilson County depends on. They want the county to require water-impact studies, fire capacity reviews and cost-benefit analysis before any tax breaks are handed out. Commissioners say state law limits what the county can do, but promised to keep engaging with the community.
Wastewater Infrastructure
Wilson County residents are fighting a proposed wastewater plant, citing environmental concerns. This standoff is creating a major bottleneck for the county's ability to handle growth and modernize its aging infrastructure.
Water Quality Regulation
Wilson County residents have been dealing with gross, brown tap water for way too long. State lawmakers are finally stepping in with four new bills to force better oversight and get clean water flowing back into your home.
