Utility rates and annual performance
The annual dashboard shows Weatherford's combined utility rate is about 21% below the regional average, with the residential electric rate unchanged at 13 cents/kWh for four years. Reliability metrics ran slightly above goals because of two February substation outages, and a satellite leak-detection program found 50 leaks, saving an estimated $87,000 in water for a $6,000 survey.
February 2027 council meeting rescheduled
The February 23, 2027 council meeting moves to Monday, February 22, because council members will be at Parker County Day in Austin lobbying state lawmakers.
FY26 investment performance
The city's investments earned nearly $9 million over the past year, up year over year, but the portfolio's maturity window and benchmark performance slipped. The CFO explained it's a timing artifact of when securities were bought, and earnings should improve as rates rise.
FY27 Proposed Municipal Utility System Budget
The board adopted next year's utility budget: $82.6 million in revenue against $76.9 million in expenses. It includes year three of phased water/wastewater rate increases, staff raises, and two new positions — and keeps reserves at roughly twice the required 90-day level.
FY27 Proposed Municipal Budget and Property Tax Rates
Weatherford officials released a $120.8 million proposed budget for fiscal year 2027 while keeping the property tax rate flat at 39.22 cents per $100. Despite commercial tax roll hits from state legislative changes, strong new construction and conservative spending helped balance the general fund without raising taxes.
Utility Budget Amendment & Capital Reallocation
The board shifted $7 million from the Electric Rate Stabilization Fund to the Electric Capital Reserve to prevent exceeding fund limits, while also funding project additions like the Lake Weatherford Trail.
