Historic 1914 Courthouse Demolition
After years of debate, the county is finally tearing down the old 1914 Courthouse. Some artifacts will be preserved under a state antiquities permit, though the missing sundial remains unaccounted for.
Downtown 1914 Courthouse Demolition Agreement
The county is moving forward with an invitation for bids to demolish the historic 1914 courthouse due to severe structural deterioration and high costs, while attempting to preserve key artifacts.
Proposed Beacon Point Data Center Reinvestment Zone
Residents voiced major concerns regarding the large new Hut 8 data center project in northwest Nueces County, citing potential impacts on water usage, high-voltage AEP power lines, noise pollution, road wear, and lack of advance public notice. County officials noted they have limited legal authority to regulate the private industrial project because no county tax abatement was requested.
