Zoning Change
The Lufkin City Council went against their own planning commission and unanimously approved rezoning a Spence Street property so a developer can build six single-family homes on narrower lots. This means higher-density housing is coming to the neighborhood, whether nearby residents like it or not.
Regional Water Planning Contract with Plummer Associates
The city is considering a contract with Plummer Associates to prepare the 2031 Regional Water Plan for the East Texas region, ensuring long-term water resource security.
Airport Business Plan
The city is looking into hiring a consultant to create a comprehensive business plan and update regulations for the local airport. The study will look at modernizing leases, optimizing fuel sales, evaluating staff needs, and planning for future hangar development to make the airport more self-sufficient.
