Zoning Change
The Lufkin City Council went against their own planning commission and unanimously approved rezoning a Spence Street property so a developer can build six single-family homes on narrower lots. This means higher-density housing is coming to the neighborhood, whether nearby residents like it or not.
Vehicle Fleet Management Modernization
Nacogdoches just hired a new city manager to run the show behind the scenes. Since this person calls the shots on daily operations, keep an eye out for changes in which city projects actually get the green light.
Fleet Management Centralization
Nacogdoches just swore in a new mayor and city council to lead the charge for the next few years. These are the people who will be calling the shots on everything from your tax dollars to local policy changes.
Sex Offender Residency Restrictions
Nacogdoches is tightening the rules on where massive battery storage sites can be built. It’s all about balancing our need for a modern power grid without letting industrial projects disrupt our local neighborhoods.
Downtown Mural Initiative
Nacogdoches is gearing up for a major facelift to downtown, which means your favorite local spots might be getting a serious upgrade soon. It’s worth paying attention to these plans to see how the city intends to spend your tax dollars on improving the area's look and feel.
Capital Improvement Program Funding
Nacogdoches is finally putting bond money to work by upgrading local sidewalks and giving the dog park a much-needed facelift. It’s a solid move to make your daily commute and weekend hangouts a lot more enjoyable.
