Somerset Hills Road District: Williamson County cuts road district debt capacity to $53 million

After three months of pushback from a group of Sun City residents, the Williamson County Commissioners Court canceled the unissued bond from Somerset Hills Road Districts 3 and 4. During the September 29 Commissioners Court meeting, officials lowered the debt capacity from the original $70 million to $53 million. Commissioners also said no additional lanes would be built, and no future road costs would fall within the road district’s boundaries.

City considers changes to rideGTX to reduce program costs

Users of the City of Georgetown’s rideGTX program could soon see ride fares increase from $4 to $5 and the removal of voucher-sponsored rides from the hours of midnight to 6 a.m. Wheelchair Access Vehicle rides could also be limited to 25 trips per month. The city is taking on these changes in order to reduce the cost of the program, which was implemented in summer 2025. According to Transportation Manager Lua Saluone, it costs the city $60 per WAV trip and $17 per regular trip.

Blue Hole Park renovations scaled down in update

Changes to Blue Hole Park’s master plan are taking shape as the city moves through the 30% design phase for a park redesign, with a slightly reduced project scope and a construction estimate of $7 million. A Blue Hole Master Plan was finalized last fall. Design work began in February, and the city earmarked $7.9 million in the FY27 budget for the project. Proposed changes include updated parking and restrooms, open space for recreation and picnicking, nature preservation and updated water access.

City seeks partners for future parking garage retail space

The City of Georgetown is preparing to seek a development partner for the retail space that will be attached to the city’s second downtown public parking garage. The future 435-spot garage — which is expected to replace the Red Poppy Parking Lot between 10th, Ninth, Main and Church streets — will be about a block south of the Square. It’ll be built through a partnership with the Texas Municipal League, which is renovating the old Wesleyan building at 205 East University Avenue for a new office space.
